If you’re on Backpage, Google AdWords is your gateway to the world of sex trafficking.
For a fee, you can use the site to advertise in the porn industry, and you’ll get a commission of up to 75% if you do.
Google’s algorithm, though, is designed to filter out the ads that are deemed “not relevant.”
For example, if you search for a porn star who looks similar to you, the algorithm will throw out any ads that don’t match your profile.
Google has yet to update its algorithm for this specific reason.
You can find out more about the company’s new ad policy here.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t still get paid to advertise.
In fact, Backpage has a paid ad program called Advertiser Services.
It offers a $1,500 per month paid advertising account.
For every page viewed, you get a small percentage of a sale.
If you click a link and then click the “View Ads” button, you’ll earn 10% of the sale.
Backpage says it has “over 4,000 paid advertising partners and over 50,000 advertisers.”
If you think you might be a victim of trafficking, you might want to consider signing up for Advertisers Services.
“Our goal is to prevent trafficking through awareness-raising campaigns and other ways to increase awareness,” Backpage CEO and cofounder Nick Siboti told Ars.
“We want to increase the awareness around sex trafficking so it will not happen again.”
