Google will begin selling advertising on its own search engine in 2018, according to a new report.
The Wall Street, which cited unnamed people familiar with the matter, reported Monday that the search giant plans to begin offering the service, which is built into Google search, within the next few months.
The service would allow Google users to search for ads in ads displayed in search results, according the report.
The news comes as Google has struggled to gain traction with consumers, particularly on mobile devices, amid a broader decline in its advertising business.
Google has struggled with Google’s search rankings over the past few years, and the company has struggled in recent quarters to maintain its lead in the search market.
Google’s AdWords service, developed by a unit of Alphabet, is an advertising product that allows advertisers to target ads to search queries, such as keywords, or other keywords that advertisers use to search.
The AdWords program was designed to help advertisers better understand how people are searching for information, and how those searches may be related to a specific product or service.
The company has been struggling with its search business over the last few quarters, and its ad business has been hit by sluggish revenue growth, falling advertising revenue and lower search rankings.
AdWords is one of several initiatives Google is exploring to build its own advertising product.
The company also has a separate Google+ advertising service that offers advertisers more control over what appears in search result results, with some ad revenue going to Google.
Google is currently using both platforms for ad revenue, and has launched a separate version of the Google+ app for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices.
