Apple Inc (AAPL) is planning to open a new online advertising site for its own branded food service and a food-delivery app, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
The news follows a report by the Associated Press that Apple would open its own online advertising platform in the United States.
The move was first reported by Bloomberg.
Apple has been trying to build its brand reputation and get a foothold in the food-service market, as a result of its iPhone operating system and its use of app-based advertising services like Instacart, which Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak introduced in 2007.
Apple plans to launch the new website and app in the coming months, the Journal said.
Apple currently operates a variety of app stores that allow customers to buy food through their smartphones.
The company has launched its own food delivery service, Foursquare, as well as its own website and mobile app for ordering food.
Apple also operates a branded website for the iPhone and Apple Watch, called Apple Watch.
The website also sells iPhone accessories and other Apple products, including a $10,000 wristwatch.
Apple’s new online ad service is expected to focus on food and beverage marketing.
The new site is likely to be built on Apple’s existing online food advertising platform, which launched in late 2012 and allows people to buy and sell food products.
The Journal also reported that Apple was working on an app for Apple Watch that would allow users to order a meal from a restaurant and get it delivered to their homes.
