With the final whistle still in the balance, Spain’s first-leg clash with England in the World Cup finals is already underway.
The first half is all about the possession and the speed of the passing game.
In this first-ever Real Madrid vs England match, the home side is showing more initiative and intent, with Ronaldo in particular taking the lead with two impressive goals.
In a rare display of intensity, Real Madrid are also showing the attacking flair to take the game to England, who are also making their first appearance in the final of a major tournament since the 1966 final between Germany and France.
With Spain still needing a win to make it out of the group stage, the game could be the deciding factor in who wins the 2018 World Cup.
The match is the first time that Real Madrid have faced England since Spain lost 2-0 to Germany in the 2006 final.
A number of key players, including Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, have already started for the visitors, while the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo has meant that Alvaro Morata has been left out.
The Madrid team will also look to add to its attack in attack with both Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos expected to feature.
While England’s team-mates will be focusing on the game, the Spanish side is focusing on winning it.
Real Madrid’s lead over England will not be enough to secure a place in the knockout stages, and the match will be the final one for Real Madrid in the tournament.
Real Sociedad and Levante both dropped points against Real Madrid during the group stages, while Levante’s win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday also came on the back of a 2-2 draw.
